Back in the 1950’s a handful of men got together with an idea to sell the superior quality fish caught from day boats to the consumer. Leigh Fisheries itself was founded in 1956 and the same philosophy continues some 60 odd years later. Today some of the original families that started the industry out of Leigh and other members are all private shareholders in Leigh Fisheries.

Leigh Fisheries with its sister companies in Europe, the United States and in Asia – along with Lee Lobster from New Zealand – form the Lee Fish group. The Group is responsible for marketing and distributing fresh seafood to wholesalers, restaurants, and supermarkets around the world. The Lee Fish brand is now recognized around the world as the leader in industry and is a prime source for premium-quality chilled seafood.

Our business is all about freshness, that’s why our fish comes straight from the fishing boats in New Zealand, is flown to us daily and is then delivered to you, our customers, without any delays.

Something else that sets us apart: We don’t just catch fish and then try to sell it. We sell fish and then target the catch around what is needed. We think ahead and our environmental awareness helps us to protect our resources so we can sustainably deliver the freshest fish possible.

To satisfy our ever growing customer base and demands we expanded our New Zealand product range with fish from other countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, Maldives and various other partners in the South Pacific Rim regions. Many things have changed since we set up our business. One thing, however has remained the same: our full commitment to supplying our customers with an exciting selection of the freshest quality seafood possible.
